Dallas Mavericks to accept Bitcoin

Dallas Mavericks have become the second NBA team to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment for match tickets and merchandise.

The move comes more than five years after the Sacramento Kings became the first NBA team to accept Bitcoin for promotional products and tickets back in January 2014.

Mavericks owner and billionaire tech investor Mark Cuban has been dropping hints for well over a year that fans would soon be able to use Bitcoin to buy tickets to the teams games.

Now those plans are about to go operational using BitPays services to process fans Bitcoin payments.

A Mavericks press release read: "The Mavs will utilize the service provider BitPay to process all Bitcoin purchases.
"BitPay, the largest bitcoin payment processor in the world, offers the Dallas Mavs' global fans a seamless experience to purchase tickets and merchandise with the Bitcoin Cryptocurrency."

This is not the first time Cuban has dipped his toe into crypto waters with his investments including the Seattle startup Unikrn and the crypto-based venture capital fund 1confirmation, as well as the launch of the Ethereum-based Mercury Protocol back in August 2017.
